To say goodbye to the horrid GFC and all the finished and half finished projects we started in 2009, to celebrate the festive season with one’s colleagues and acquaintances, and to share the goodwill with our hosts Gunnersen, the Retail Design Institute would welcome you to join us for drinks and a tour of The Cullen, the latest addition to Art Series Hotel Group’s very groovy stable of hotels (think The Storrier in Sydney) at 6.30pm on Wednesday December 9.

The $48 million, 115-room Cullen Hotel designed by Jackson Clements Burrows is the first in a series of six art-themed boutique hotels planned for Melbourne. The Cullen which opened this month has been watched closely both nationally and internationally for its unique take on luxury art-focused accommodation. The Cullen, named for artist Adam Cullen will be followed by The Olsen and The Blackman in early 2010.

As the enfant terrible of the art world, Adam Cullen is known for dragging a rotting pigs head around chained to his ankle and creating a children’s book with infamous criminal Mark ‘Chopper’ Read.

The Art of Cullen Interiors
Over 450 pieces of Adam Cullen’s artwork feature in The Cullen, with two life-sized fibreglass cows painted by Cullen to greet guests in the entry foyer. Providing guests with a unique visual experience, each hotel will be named after and inspired by a famous Australian artist, with no two Art Series Hotels the same. Art Hotels blend boutique style and luxury comfort to create an unmissable hotel experience.
